THE FALLS EVENT CENTER MCMINNVILLE- Grace and Jacob Coffman hosted their lively and cozy wedding at our lodge in McMinnville, Oregon. The couple had a blissful day, filled with love, laughter, and new favorite memories. Read on to hear about the special and hilarious details of their wedding day, as said by Grace herself:
“Our dream house is a log cabin, so when we found this little log cabin chapel, we fell in love. The entire surrounding area was absolutely breathtaking in the fall. We wanted to surround ourselves with warm, welcoming colors, and the surrounding rows of yellow/orange bushels of leaves gave us just that.
I have always been in love with the old Hollywood style, which I mimicked in my dream dress. I wanted my husband to stand out as well, which is why we went with blue suits to pop against our warm color pallet.
Our officiant is my husband’s uncle and is of Scottish descent. We always joked about how he should be the one to marry us, and it had to be in a kilt. After so many jokes, it ended up becoming the real plan. In his previous trip to Scotland, he worked with one of the designers from Bravehart to create a special kilt to wear during the ceremony.
While we worked very hard to make the wedding as elegant and sentimental as possible, we really wanted everyone to have a ton of fun. Neither of our families like to take life very seriously, which was reflected in the details. Along with the kilted officiant, we decided to put our grandmas on display as our flower girls. Decorations had some comedic detail as well. Every table had embarrassing pictures of me and my husband throughout the years, which many of our guests ended up taking home!
My favorite details, however, were the sentimental details. My husband was extremely close to his “Papa” up until he passed away. I decided to surprise him and his “Oma” with a framed picture of my husband and his “Papa” on a reserved seat in the front. We also had a “love by example” corner containing wedding pictures of our entire family. This was so fun to make, because we were able to go through all of the old photos with our relatives throughout the months prior to our wedding. My husband and I also share an extreme love of coffee, which was displayed throughout the venue. We created a coffee bar and coffee bean goodie bags that displayed our wedding “logo” on each cup and bag.”
